Former President Robert Mugabe’s son Chatunga Bellarmine on his social media blog denounced accusations Minister Oppah Muchinguri that his father called on the West to impose sanctions that have damaged Zimbabwe’s economy for the past 18years.
Chatunga who always stands by his father in the face of heavy criticism disregarded Muchinguri’s postulations saying they are hillarious.
“I don’t comment on politics usually because that’s not my field but l find it very funny and very laughable some people saying our Father begged for sanctions to be imposed on Zimbabwe,” Chatunga said.
He added that his father loves Zimbabwe and has continued to say he will remain in the country because he is a patriot which is known to everyone.
“A great Pan Africanist who’s history doesn’t need to be explained. So you can’t allege President Robert Mugabe asked for sanctions from the west thats hilarious,” Chatunga added.
This comes after Muchinguri accused the former president of working with his enemies, in particular the United States to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe.
“All along I suspect he was a sell-out, it’s coming out now. The sanctions by the United States , it was him who wanted the people to continue to suffer. He was working with his enemies,” she said.
There have been reciprocal lashes against Mugabe, one after another since he was stripped off presidency.
The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) and instrumental body in the politics of Zanu PF recently accused Mugabe of being a traitor as well and they want his name removed from the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Chatunga also responded to this saying removing his name will not remove him from the books of Zimbabwe’s history.
Mugabe has been accused of working with the opposition to cause chaos in the country after he made it known on record that he was in support of MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa.
