UK publisher of Exhibition World, Mash Media has released an industry support video as part of its #GetBritainMeeting campaign to showcase the true value of the UK events industry.

During the Covid-19 crisis, the UK events industry at large has suffered disproportionately, as not only have events in all forms been banned, but a lack of understanding as to the value and depth of the sector to the UK economy has been exposed.

Government support measures, in the forms of Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans, wage support through furloughing schemes and rates relief, have seen many events businesses fall through the cracks, and while the plight of sport, music and cultural events have received media attention, the scale of the damage to those operating and supplying conferences, meetings, and exhibitions has not.

The events industry is worth £70bn (US$87.43bn) to the UK economy annually and employs approximately 700,000 people across conferences, meetings, incentive travel, exhibitions, and outdoor and cultural events.

Call to action

In order to raise awareness as to how important events are to not just the UK economy, but to communities and in bringing ideas and people together as well, we are asking eventprofs to share this industry support video across their social media channels, tagging key UK politicians, and national newspapers and broadcasters. – Exhibition World
