Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – Past is past. You have great capacity to flick a fresh page today and to see the new horizon anew. Why not “let what is past flow downstream?”, goes the Japanese proverb. It’s no secret that because of life’s problems you are sometimes made to go through the corridors of stress. Stress is normal, but can only be managed by serious ambition and different eye salve.
One of the simple definitions of stress, is “the feeling we have when under pressure.” Today’s installment aims to energise and re-fire you as an overcover in order to shine brighter.
There is a story of a psychology professor who walked into an auditorium filled with students. So she held up a glass of water. The students expected the common question: Was the glass half empty or half full? However, something different was in store. Thus he asked them: “How heavy was this glass of water I am holding?” Different answers echoed from the audience ranging from light to heavy.
From the above you pick life lesson that people will always see things differently. Thus let not that which seems to be bothering you hold you down. Don’t be gutted down by life times of misfortunes. Problems don’t live forever. We have summer, winter, spring and autumn, all meant to beautifully aerate the aesthetics of the seasons.
While the students’ views were reverberating its echoes, the professor conveyed her view.
She replied, “From my perspective the absolute weight of this glass don’t matter. It all depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute or two its light. If I hold it for an hour straight, its weight might make my arm ache a little. If I hold it for a day straight, my arm will cramp up and feel completely numb and paralyzed, forcing me to drop the glass to the floor. In each case the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it the heavier it feels for me.” The professor did not end there. She continued, “Your life stress and worries in life are very much like the glass of water. Think about them for a while, nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and you begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long and you will feel completely numb and paralysed – incapable of doing anything else until you drop them.
Weight of the glass don’t matter The weight of the glass you are made to carry don’t matter. What you go through don’t matter at all. Suffering and pain may be subjected to you will never kill you. Remember you are a soldier who is trained in a rugged way inorder to prepare for the future. Sometimes you go without eating. Don’t run away from the training camp of this life. One General once stood and said to a Commanding Officer of troops and said, “I am presenting to you these men, make soldiers out of them.” This life was designed to produce a soldier out of you. When the temperature goes too high in the oven is it meant to destroy the bread being baked? Absolutely no.
