News of the South is reliably informed that the delay in clearance has opened corruption floodgates as workers at the college are allegedly demanding bribes from affected students to fasttrack clearance.
The college advised students to post fees receipts on the portal and wait for clearance.
Students are alleging that a maximum of only 3 students are being cleared per day despite that there are close to 900 who should be cleared to access their results.
One of the affected students from the Automotive Department who refused to be named fearing victimisation said he uploaded his fees receipts 3 days after release of results but is not yet cleared.
Sources from the institution of higher learning revealed that some students managed to hack the college website by logging in as external students and accessed their results.
News of the South sought the response of the college Principal Gilbert Mzenzi Mabasa who advised that the Vice Principal, Chiedza Masanganise was in a better position to comment.
She said:“We are issuing results. We have had to improvise due to Covid -19 lockdown to offer our results online for the first time because of travel restrictions.”
“To date we have issued results to close to 2000 students and only close to 1200 remain to be issued in queue. The system is functional. Since it is a new system some students might be failing to access it effectively. They need to get in touch with their Heads of Divisions who will help them over the phone,” Masanganise elaborated.
“Let me look into the whole issue on Monday.
Thank you for raising the ‘floodgates’ issue. We will look into it also,” said the Vice Principal promising to deal effectively with bribe seeking officials
Students are under pressure to access their results because the deadlines for both normal and late registration for November 2021 HEXCO examinations lapsed.
According to the examination notice posted to students, normal entry deadline was July 31 and late entry was August 5th, 2021.
