Fifa president Sepp Blatter has expressed his appreciation of Cristiano Ronaldo, but still hinted his favourite is Lionel Messi following the recent controversy about the duo.

The 77-year-old leader was massively criticised for favouring Messi, suggesting the Portuguese “spends more time at the hairdresser” weeks ago, a flagrant blackmail which sparked heavy condemnation from football gurus across Europe.

“To me, Ronaldo is still an outstanding player and an outstanding commander in the field,” he said.”But obviously each of us, in heart, has our favourite.”

Blatter also spoke of Fifa’s position against racism in football after some reported incidents of Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli.

“One of the main objectives of Fifa is to combat racism,” he added.”Unfortunately, racism is not a game, but a reality.Racism itself comes from our society, and not football.”

The Swede has been the Fifa president since 1998 and has won re-election in 2002, 2007 and 2011.He is presently serving his fourth consecutive term as Fifa boss.
