0 0Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tendai Biti has accused Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa of being an illiterate butcher who cannot rule the country.
In a social media attack the former Finance Minister said Mnangagwa’s statement on bond notes this week revealed the alleged Lacoste faction leader’s shortcomings in leadership.
“I have always argued that this man, the Butcher is a functionally illiterate idiot. Here is the proof. Quad erranta demonstratum”, he charged.
The VP, who is in Switzerland for the Universal Periodic Review of the United Nations Human Rights Council, addressed Zimbabwean embassy staff whom he told government may come up with a policy where bond notes may be used exclusively for certain transactions.
This would allegedly be so as to encourage their usage while no one would separate bank accounts for bond notes and foreign currency.
“The US dollar is a reserve currency. It is a precious currency to most countries in the world. It’s for international transactions”.
“Haisi yekutengesa matohwe, yekutengesa mavisi, yekutengesa madora kana yekutengesa mazhanje. That’s is only found in Zimbabwe”, he said.
“It’s a unique country which us abusing the US dollar. We said we must use the US dollar for the purpose we designed it”.
“We need to find a mode of transaction that is domestic because if you put $200 million into Zimbabwe today, after a few days, it’s all taken out. It is not even going through the banking system. Sone even smuggles it through tyres”, he said.
“Down the line, it’s possible that we might even say certain transactions or certain payments in the system, shall be done with bond notes so that if some people come from outside and sell on the Zimbabwean market, they are forced to go to the bank because they cannot carry the bond notes outside”, he said.
