0 0Former Big Brother Africa contestant, Zimbabwean Roki Josphats, believes the Big Brother reality show is capable of making the contestants evil, commenting on Botswana`s O’Neal Zibanani Madumo`s recent announcement that given a chance to re-enter the Big Brother Africa game he would never do it.
In an interview with the News of the South team, the Zimbabwean crooner Roki said he does not blame O`Neal since most contestants prefer to live a lie while in the house resulting in them being cunning and malicious to each other, just to get the money.
“Being on that television reality show has some detrimental effects of it`s own; it can cause someone to be evil since everyone goes in there for the money, so I do not blame O`Neal for his sentiments.”
“The most disturbing thing about the show is that no one is warned about how un-genuine everyone can be when they get into the house, however given the chance to go back in to the house, I would go,” he said.
O’Neal, responding to questions about his experiences in the house expressed frustration and said that given a chance to re-enter the Big Brother Africa game he would never do it.
“It is psychologically challenging and scary. At some point in the game, I even got diagnosed with High Blood Pressure and started taking medication,” he was quoted saying, in one of Botswana`s local media.
The Big Brother Africa game show has faced many grave criticisms from different people around the African continent, some saying it promote immorality and indecency, others saying there is nothing African about it, while others even saying it is satanic.
Big Brother Africa is the African version of the Big Brother reality game show. The show initially involved 12 countries within Africa (Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe) with two countries (Ethiopia and Mozambique) being added in season 4 and two other countries (Liberia and Sierra Leone) being added in season 7.
Each country provides a contestant living in an isolated house while trying to avoid being evicted by viewers and ultimately winning a large cash prize at the end of the show.
