The Eagles moved top of the Primeira Liga courtesy of a 2-0 triumphant over rivals FC Porto in a match played at Estadio da Luz on Sunday as the host honour their departed legend Eusebio.

Benfica took advantage of Lisbon’s draw at Estoril on Saturday, to land themselves the pole position on the log.

Rodrigo and Ezequiel Garay netted for Benfica to seal a comfortable 2-0 win over Porto for the first time at home since 2009-10 playing season.

The host donned the legendary striker’s name on the back of their shirts in commemoration of their departed cadre Eusebio who banged 733 goals in 745 games during his career.

Elsewhere, Olhanense beat Victoria Setubal to move off the basement of the table thanks to goals from Agon Mehmeti and Federico Dionisi respectively.

Arouca had a good run of the day as they dismissed Belenenses 2-0 to record their second consecutive win in the league, while Pacos de Ferreira lost 4-2 to Academica to aggrevate their relegation woes.

In the final match of yesterday, Nacional won 2-0 over Gil Vicente to move fifth on the log table and therefore condemn the latter to fourth defeat in a row.
