Bad weather claims lives in Mozambique

Nampula, Mozambique (News of The South) – Four people have died in Nampula province, northern Mozambique, as a result of bad weather in the region,
Three of the dead are under four years old, The first case occurred between the districts of Murrapaniua and Moatala, where a four-year-old child playing near the Nicuta River and a 30-year-old adult trying to cross to the other bank were dragged down by the river current.
“The victims were swept away by the fury of the waters of the Nicuta River, which passes through several neighborhoods in the city of Nampula,” said Zacarias Nacute spokesperson for Nampula.
The bad weather in Nampula has affected about 130 people and has partially destroyed 37 homes.
On Saturday, a canoe carrying four people from the same family sank in a river in Lalaua district, killing two children.
