0 0Zimbabwe`s ruling Zanu -PF is probing senior officials to establish who fed information to the faceless facebook character Baba Jukwa who was recently unmasked.
Two Journalists, Mkhululi Chimoio and Mxolisi Ncube, the administrators of the facebook page, have been dared by legal experts to sue the hackers and papers that exposed them.
The two Journalists work for The Zimbabwean newspaper published by Wilf Mbanga in Britain and sold in various countries including Zimbabwe.
ZANU PF secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa and spokesperson Rugare Gumbo, said there was need to investigate the matter as some of the published information was false and malicious.
The hackers who exposed the two journalists are believed to have been working on the case since 2013.
“Baba Jukwa” claimed to be a disgruntled senior ZANU PF Politburo member before “his” exposure as a donor-funded regime change project. Cde Mutasa said he believed some ruling party officials supplied information to “Baba Jukwa” in a bid to discredit ZANU PFahead of last year’s harmonised elections that the party nonetheless won with a landslide.
“It is necessary and essential to discuss the matter as a party and investigate what could have happened,” said Cde Mutasa. “I agree that some among us were supplying those accused people with information with a view to cast the party in bad light and there is need to probe the matter.
“But we have to get a detailed information of what was happening because what we only have is from the media.”
Some of the information published on the page was said to be misleading and was meant to ignite civil disturbances and even insurrections, which is prohibited under various laws including the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
