At 41st Birthday Listen,learn And Reflect Zimbabwe

Hope is not my strength darling Zimbabwe
Hot tears trickle down my cheeks
As we celebrate your long life
Reality makes me say,
You are aging in reverse
You can’t run,you can’t walk
You can only crawl What’s going on mother hen? If l zoom you closer l see:
A shadow of your former glory
A shrinking violet

A once precious pearl now a crater
A petrol station without fuel
A Lobels delivery van without bread
A hospital without water and electricity
A pregnant woman dying whilst giving birth
Youth without payslips
Survivors of Chimurenga two, are hungry and thirsty
Descendants of Nyatsimba Mutota and Tshaka Zulu have no income
They are scavengers, scattered across the globe
They are migratory birds eking for a living in lands afar
Exposed to xenophobia and semi slavery
What’s going on Mama Zim?
Once upon a time, you had milk and honey for us all

Now your breasts are as dry as desert sand
You were the Jewel of Africa Now your offsprings are gifted beggars
They roam the world over with begging bowls.
Zimbabwe, hope is not my strength
But, l still have a flicker of hope
As you celebrate your 41st birthday ,
Enjoy and enjoy graciously
Have time to listen,learn and reflect
Learn from your mistakes.
You can still rise and shine
You can conquer this dracula spirit of suffering.
And you are still mine.
