Technology giant Apple unveiled its latest iPad – renamed the iPad Air at their autumn launch in San Francisco.
The iPad Air is thinner, lighter and more powerful than ever before.
Apple vice-president Phil Schiller called the tablet a “screaming fast iPad.”
He also claimed the new device is eight times faster than the original iPad that came out in 2010.
It is 43 percent thinner than the previous model, making it more comfortable to hold.
The new iPad features a 5 MP camera and duel microphones for the first time.
Apple announced that the device will become available in mid-December in four colours – silver, white, ‘space grey’ and black and it starts at $499 for 16 GB Wi-Fi only model and $629 for the Wi-Fi plus cellular model.
