Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – A total number of 18 528 cases were reported to the Zimbabwe Republic Police during the 2018 season with those of women skyrocketing to 16067 according to the Ant-Domestic Violence Council.

The appalling statistics shown threaten an atmosphere of animosity and disorder in the society, a scenario which has spotted women to be the major victims of circumstances in the play.

Against this background Anti Domestic Violence Council an initiative set by the government to ensure effective implementation of the Domestic Violence under Section 16 is greatly concerned about the extent at which cases of domestic violence are increasing in various spheres.

Briefing members of the media today in the Capital Anti Domestic Violence Chairperson, Mrs Eunice Njovana reiterated that her organization notes with great concern the extent of domestic violence cases reported so far and firmly condemned the acts.

“The Anti- Domestic Violence Council notes with great concern and condemns such disturbing incidences which emanate from domestic disputes.”

In this regard domestic relates to violence issues are a cause for concern hence calls for every sectors involved to come together in the quest to get to the bottom of root causes and pepetrators of the refered monster.

“ We call upon the responsible authorities to handle this case, among other similar ones, with the seriousness it deserves to ensure that justice prevail.”

“ Ending domestic violence will require a coordinated and concerted community response in which we all play part. It is understandable to be shocked when domestic violence occurs, but we must also understand the root causes of domestic violence.”

Emanating from a number of myriad reasons domestic violence in Zimbabwe occurs in the manner of abuse, murder, assault and other forms can at any given point befall any member of the community hence the need to devise strategic initiatives to end the scourge.

“It is a tragic when cold blooded murders occur, but we must also know that we can prevent domestic violence from ever taking another one of our sisters, brothers, family members, neighbours, core-workers, again. And together we can prevent another child having to experience the abuse, death of parent and orphanhood.“

The Anti- Domestic Violence Council has been on record raising awareness to all citizens to report cases of violence with victims aged to engage law enforcement agents to haunt perpetrators as a way of mitigating anti social acts of violence.
