According to reports, the incident took place in the coastal town of Barawe, 110 miles south of the Somali Capital Mogadishu shortly before dawn.

The town of Barawe is known to be the hiding place for the Al Shabaab leader Ahmed Adbi Godane and also the small fishing town is said to be the heart area for the Al Qaeda affiliate leading to it being attacked.

Although the British, French and Turkish special forces denied responsibility for the raid, the Al Shabaab claims that the British and the Turkish special forces carried out the raid and reports said in the raid one SAS officer was killed.

With all the western forces denying allegations that they carried out the raid, many are still waiting for the Americans to give their report on whether they carried the latest raid or not. In 2009, the US attacked Barawe and killed six Al Shabaab solders including their commander.

“The soldiers landed on a beach beside the town’s whitewashed buildings and gunfire broke out for about 10-15 minutes,” said an eye witness.
