Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – South Africa-based Zim songstress said she is setting her eyes on being a musician of international repute against all odds.
Speaking to News of The South, the 30-year-old Marceline Janyure popularly known as Marcy in the music circles said she is drawing inspiration from South Africa where she is based on how they do music.
“I have been away from Zimbabwe for a while but I have found out that here the musicians take music as business and which I see in Zimbabwe we lag behind probably may it`s because back home there is lack of corporate support,” said the affable musician.
She is currently working on a ‘sleek video’ for the single Maboorangoma which she did in 2014 and it features jazz legend Louis Mhlanga.
“In my entire career I have not done any music videos but I have realized that doing videos is a step towards attracting international appeal,” said the Chitungwiza-born artiste Marcy says she has one album under her belt titled ‘Chishuwo’ done in 2012.
Music runs in the diva’s family blood as his brother Simba was part of the Thornhill Brothers whose song ‘Usacheme’ took the music scene in the early 2000 by storm.
Her nice Rudo Chasi is also into music.
The musician says she started music in 2012 and has featured in the HIFA and Shoko festivals.
Piracy is bleeding the music industry and it is believed that there are some authorities are benefitting from the scourge hence there is no will power to end the scourge that have left many musicians ‘pauperised.’
Music in Zimbabwe has been widely viewed as lacking behind because of lack of corporate support compared to other African countries.
Government has also been criticised for also not doing enough to promote local musicians. This has seen most musicians flocking to South Africa where the fortunes are better. These include King Labash, Maskiri at one point, TK Hollun,Knox and many more.
