It is also important to note how research carried out by African Traditional Healers does not go anywhere. Is it because they are suppressed or do not have permission to conduct experiments or carry out trials or take the lead with the research they start. It has been observed that Western scientists take over this research which they then modify and never give credit to the African traditional healers.
However in some instances Scientific medicine fails to diagnose ailments even though the Doctors can clearly see the patient is not well. They get baffled as to why various tests and results don’t show anything wrong. When such patients consult African traditional healers they identify the problem or diagnose the illness which they can then solve and cure the patient. In such cases African traditional medicine heals the patient although it is not in the modified scientist form.
The World is currently confused with the Coronavirus which is killing thousands across the World. African traditional healers seem to have taken a back seat and hardly speak about possible vaccines, are they afraid or they are simply waiting for the western scientists to take the lead and claim credit?. Without the modern equipment to process the medicine in the past, African traditional healers have used herbs which have cured many ailments, herbs used in their original forms.
Africa has many popular flamboyant and glamourous ” papas”, miracle Prophets,
Prophets who raise the dead, Godfathers you name it. During this crisis of the Coronavirus they are all quiet about a vaccine, solution or miracle except TB Joshua of Nigeria who claims that Coronavirus would end on March 27, 2020. Many Prophets claim to have prophesied the coming of Coronavirus but have not been shown the vision of what to do to help the people. Yet when they claim to see visions of other problems they are shown the solutions such sowing the seeds which involves paying money to their churches. They say ” If you don’t show a seed your problem does not go”. It’s now time to question all of them why they were not shown the solution as is usually the case for all other visions they have.
There was high drama in Zimbabwe in 2019 when self styled popular Prophet Walter Magaya was convicted for fraud and fined him $700 (£540) for falsely claiming he had a herbal cure for HIV and Aids with the introduction of his Aguma drug which was not approved by Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health. Magaya was already distributing the medicine which he claimed made HIV disappear within 14 days. After his conviction Magaya was forced to apologise to Zimbabweans and the World which he did and case was closed. However Zimbabwe failed to tell us what ingredients were in the so called Aguma drug. It is not clear whether any tests were conducted and what the findings were. All we know is he was told he wasn’t a medical Doctor and his drug had not been approved by Medical association. Did Magaya get the drug from a traditional healer? What really happened? Who else was behind the so called drug and what was in it?
Magaya broke the law but what was in the drug?
After looking at a scenario like Magaya’s case the question is are African countries clear in what traditional healers who stumble on medicine, herbs, or cures for ailments are supposed to do? After Magaya’s drama shall we say African traditional Doctors, Scientists or healers are now afraid to step forward with their findings? Could this be the explanation why there is very little new African traditional medicine coming up because Africa has a lot of herbs, roots trees, leaves, weeds which have healing properties. What can African countries do to revive the African Traditional Medicines and work closely with western scientists and Doctors. There appears to be no sufficient collaborations. How do African traditional healers get uplifted so that they are seen as being useless or not knowledge about traditional medicine. Chinese have traditional medicine in large numbers and seem to be efficient which is largely due to support from the Chinese government. Maybe African countries can support their traditional medicine and healers instead of relying on drugs from the west which are too costly and beyond the reach of many people. If there is a lot of African traditional medicine in use and if the traditional healers follow set government rules and guidelines and get approval and the medicines are tested and approved this could help solve Africa’s drug problem and reduce reliance on the west. Our forefathers were experts in African medicine, they cured many ailments and lived longer and enjoyed healthy lives. What we know is some of that knowledge was passed on and is not being fully used because Africans were colonised and made to believe it was all backward and inferior. African s heavily rely on Chinese traditional medicine yet they have their own in abundance in Africa. So now with the Chinese invasion of Africa they will find all these herbs which Africans can’t see and are not using they will claim they are Chinese medicines and African s will be overcharged for their own medicines by the Chinese.
Ebola and cholera have come and gone, and come back many times. Ebola is a virus that hibernates somewhere then suddenly multiplies as and when it chooses to and leaving a large trail of death. African traditional healers are still to come up with with alternative traditional medicine for ebola and cholera.
