Britain glitters amazingly with gold, unfortunately the sad part is that the source of the glitters is not shining and is the extremely dull Africa.

Each year countries all over the world make profits over a trillion US dollars from Afro-linked deals whilst on the other hand billions are injected to help the poor men of Africa on their basic needs- shelter, health, clean water and education just to mention a few. We should be ashamed of that fellow Africans. Poor leadership and national management is causing all this. We are the ones who should be assisting other continents as our continent is richly endowed with vast mineral resources.

The number of bridge meetings’ attendance increase daily, for roadside drainage bridges have become boardrooms for the learned but jobless young people of most African nations, Zimbabwe included. In these agendaless boardrooms anything that can come into their minds can be discussed from politics, social issues, trending music, films, girls, drugs, sex, religion the list is endless. It is so sad that the unemployment rate of Zimbabwe is over 90% and graduates can either be NGO workers or all day home girls/boys. Why can’t employment be created for our children? Can’t leaders put their selfish objectives and egos away and do good to the whole continent, by being corrupt-free and nepotism-free. The duo is destructing Africa from progressing, there are so many local investors and international ones who are seeking a clean pot to stir their money in. Alas, there is no one who dares to invest in an unclean leader or community. A gestapo of evil minded leaders always chases away beneficial friends thus causing harm to the rest of the family, and now we are suffering- industries are closing leaving the youth in Zimbabwe idle, hopeless, cashless and jobless.

When all the nations in Africa attained independence, the citizens smiled, ululated, danced and sung for freedom. Little did they know that they were jumping from the frying pan into the fire. They thought that was the exodus from the long struggle of inequality and suppression. Little did they know that they were getting into an advanced stage of suffering fused with deception. A stage where fellow country men are bribed with beer to attack brothers and sisters in a bid to consolidate power. A stage where killing someone on political basis and under the arms of the government top notch is rewardable. Where is Africa going? I feel violence has no space in the modern day world but rather it’s taking more space, a retrogressive step towards a unified and peaceful community it is. There is no any other definition of violence besides these two words, hate and foolishness.

What happened to “ubuntu”?
When is the spirit of Africanism that our forefathers possessed when they were fighting for our freedom?
Who stole the love we had?
Why are we so divided and filled with so much anger, bitterness and spite?

It seems like every century has had its own discriminatory way. There was classism, racism, tribalism and now the female part of our continent is the new victim. The in thing discriminatory wise huh? Our motherland leader always preach the Gospel of democracy on high voices with sweet tones furnished with the adorable African accent, but I tend not to understand the paper democracy and their activities. Democracy is the rule of the majority, inconsiderate of color or gender right? Well how can we claim the existence of democracy when the majority’s (women’s) views are not taken seriously. As long as there is no gender balance, then the term democracy is being misused. If there were vocabulary policemen jails, they would’ve been filled with politicians and the crime being democracy misuse. Women in our continent should be empowered. When we struggle we struggle together with our mothers and sisters, we endure the pain together and they also have a right to govern and lead. Why don’t we enjoy the fruits of a free Africa together? Is that too much to ask for?

Africa day to the majority is just a day off to eat their poor meals not in a hurry. Why have most African leaders become pain and suffering inflicting agents, the elite always maintain their positions and hinder devolution of power and duties for they know once that is done, the majority will become economically free and a smooth flow of national, regional and continental business will begin to take place. The people vote for leaders and the leaders should in turn give power to the people. Centralisation of power has done no good to Peter and Tambudzai at the grassroots. Centralisation of power has been the chief cause of stagnation for the ones with power and it is time to change that narrative. They lack expertise towards certain issues, they get tired and they are human beings who have run out of ideas on how to grow the economy they destroyed by their shameless, corrupt, uncouth and unethical conduct. The Anti-devolution system is a way of governance where ideas and duties always come from the top yet the top guys are not hands on, they aren’t aware of the what goes on the ground. They are like cellphone farmers.

Africa needs to process it’s own minerals and grow the continents Economy. Why don’t we have our own African Central Bank owned by Africans for Africa’s development projects? Why was AU headquarters built by China? It’s time the youth in Africa, RISE and selflessly sacrifice to rebuild their nations and the continent as a whole. Instead of sitting on bridges lamenting about being jobless start thinking on what you can for your country and what you can do for Africa. Stop thinking about what you will get out of Africa and think of what you can do for Africa.

We are the change we have been waiting for and no one is going to change your situation other than yourself. Enough of the self pity and hopelessness. Gear yourself up to rebuild your nation starting from the community you live in. Don’t relegate your future to politicians be an active citizen who is pragmatic and willing to Build an Economy to Support Transformation with your leaders to ensure Sustainable Human Development FOR ALL ZIMBABWEANS!
