A leading African Humanitarian and Economic Development Organization, Africa Capacity Building Foundation [ACBF] which has the mandate to build human and institutional capacity for Africa’s sustainable development recently signed a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the African Union Commission [AUC] to mark an important milestone in the strategic partnership.
The partnership witnessed by Honorable officials from the Government of Zimbabwe, Honorable officials of the African Union Commission, Ambassadors from African countries and several protocols further in solidarity of Africa’s development intensified already existing relationships with the spirit of Sustainable Economic Partnership. According to Mr Mousa Faki Mahamat , Chairperson of the African Union Commission , this partnership dates back to 1992 a year after ACBF was founded.
‘’We greatly appreciate ACBF’s support of the African Union Commission which led to the African Union Assembly decision of January 2017 which granted ACBF the status of specialized Agency of the African Union’’ .
‘’The decision was in recognition of ACBF‘s invaluable support to capacity development at country, regional and continental levels in Africa since its inception in 1991 and to come up with the ‘’AFRICA WE WANT , still our vision is of Africa capable of achieving its own Development , though we are looking forward to Global Partnerships in the future ‘’.
‘’This further consolidation will foster Continental development and will even look for other partnerships which will develop Africa, we are therefore currently, for National and Regional development to meet goals of Agenda 2063’’, he said.
Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie , the Executive Secretary of ACBF on this auspicious occasion said to Journalists that, Agenda 2063 which envisages Africa’s vision was so crucial in bringing development of tangible success because of strategies in line with Economic partnerships which lasts longer than ever before.
Likening Agenda 2063 to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations of 2015, Professor Nnadozie told Journalists that Africa is moving towards achieving its goals for its total change for the total emancipation of its people in terms of Social and Economic Development.
‘’We do all this through capacity building , building resilient , sustainable , livable and viable African Communities stronger enough to face the adversity of poverty caused by Climate Change , HIV and AIDS and some other calamities creating and opening spaces of poverty in the Continent’’.
’ Still, we need to fight poverty through the support of Education for our Young people who need to lead Africa tomorrow. Capacity Building stands great, yes, but capacity retention must follow to see to it that capacity retention is vital so that Africa is served by its own Experts, that are its own sons and daughters.
‘’We work closely with UNITED NATIONS Sustainable Development Goals, but still we stand older even than the first goals put in place, that is the Millennium Development Goals of the Year 2000 during the Millennium Declaration ‘. He said.
AFRICAN CAPACITY BUILDING FOUNATION has leveraged US 46 million of African countries contribution to mobilize and invest over US 700 million in capacity development in 45 African countries. ACBF’s current Strategy [2017-2021] aims to contribute to the emergence of skilled people and strong Institution to TRANSFORM AFRICA.
