A folk story.
It was a sad morning in the deep forest of Manica in the early 1970s. No one slept as there was an air raid of the camp from the Rhodesian forces.
Joy, the youngest female soldier, was on patrol the whole night and even though they did their best to warn the camp, none could do much except dodge bullets and look for cover.
In all this, she maintained the grace and face of a well-manned Korekore girl; a lioness carries the load of the pride, with grace.
Whilst on patrol one afternoon, a horde of helicopters were hovering two mountains away from the camp.
Joy waited for her patrol and without warning, she broke rank and grabbed the bazooka from her commanding officer.
As the eight metal beast flew over the camouflaged patrol, Joy stood up and released the trigger, and a flash the biggest of the birds burst into flames, splitting into pieces.
The lioness, Joy, emerged from the ashes of the metal bird and from then on she was renamed “the spiller of blood”
