Social insurrection amidst the grim wrath of COVID-19 is an unavoidable realism to be impressed particularly hard on repressive polities. The specter and sceptre of death on speed dial is going to sanitize the effect of the stabilizing influence of “commoditized violence”. It is fear and monopoly of violence that keeps many things in check and even hobbled economies ambling by. A new framework of desolation and socio-political dissonance will be set across vast parts of the world with uneven effect on those socities that are long presided over by all sundry of fashionable Warlords.
The COVID-19 led disparate impact on poor and vulnerable sections of our societies will set them on a path of confrontation with established orders. When death finds our calling card, we all get cleansed of fear and with that gone the common market of fear mongering is going to be sold short. With social inequalities glaringly exposed and transposed into the pathway of disease and depravity the common reflex shall be fight as there is no incentive to take flight. Fear that comes in all shapes, structures and angles (45 degrees, 180degrees or 360degrees) shall find no takers in the funeral dirge filled African plains and it’s bad leadership tinged structures. Beware, oh be told, and sold onto the new emerging framework-this time, there is nowhere to run…
For the first time in political econometrics the oppressor and the oppressed shall find themselves in a new graph of unavoidable and perpetual meeting with devastating consequences. Both have nowhere to run to and the inevitable clash is stuff of political legend for time immemorial. Talk of epoch.
Hear me now and get me well, I am no pied piper of violence nor confrontation but just a simple messenger of what’s coming. A harbinger of peace if certain behaviors can get changed and radically. Those who are imposed by fear, thrive on fear and find new ways of packaging it will find it a hard sale within the global commons of new realities. There is nothing to be afraid of anymore. It’s a brave new world of post-fear malaise’.
Responsive governments are quickly drawing new social contracts with their citizens and indifferent regimes will find not enough containers, quays or bays to take them to China or any supposed land of refuge within their power planning and play matrix. You are locked in with the great unwashed, now just cleansed of fear and with little doubt of their direction of angst.
Beware the new ides of a new African ghost plain bereft of inhibitions, while pregnant with massive unguided insurrective instinct.
This is a requiem mass for the purveyors of fear, political stewards of economic alms/charms, the street merchants of depravity, and rank marshalls of disease. The people shall no longer be afraid. An epic clash is unavoidable….
