(News of The South) – Ariston Holdings donated a number of goods to the SOS Children’s Home in Waterfalls. Presenting the goods Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dr Anxious Masuku highlighted the need for society including parents, guardians, and government to give special attention to the needs of children.
“We need to do all we can to ensure that children enjoy their childhood against a background of secure and loving family life.”
Ariston Holdings donated a consignment of tea and sweet corn, they also pledged a donation of half a tonne of bananas for SOS Children’s Villages.
“This God-ordained generational transmission is what our current generation must respect to bestow the best in children – our future. This is the very reason for coming here to handover this small contribution – its value is limited but our thoughts for the children are bountiful.
“Children hold the key to our future in every practical sense. It will be their current ideas and their future resourcefulness which will help solve such problems as disease, famine and the threats to the environment.”
Dr Masuka expressed his hope that the relationship with SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe could be widened to assist the children’s organisation in agricultural food production for the children it supports.
Speaking at the same event, the SOS National Child Protection Coordinator, Ms. Ayanda Mboneli hoped that this was just the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership.
“We believe that development work, particularly when advocating for the rights of children, should not be done in isolation.”
SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe is a child rights organisation affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, the largest private welfare organisation for children in the world. Currently the organisation cares for over 700 children within its villages whilst supporting over 9000 more in the community.
