Malawi President To Eradicate Rural Poverty
The President of Malawi Her Excellency, Dr Joyce Banda launched the Mudzi Transformation Trust this May as one way of eradicating poverty among people living in rural areas.
She visited a house owned by an old couple in a village in the country which had no electricity in it only a fire to keep them warm and this made her realise that it is her duty as the President of Malawi to help the less privileged in her country and make their lives better.
In this modern 21st century, an ideal village should have good access to quality housing, roads, water, food security through subsidized farm inputs and where there are no subsidies people should have access to farm input loans to enable them to grow cash crops , own cattle which transform the social and economic status of our citizens.
The Mudzi Transformation Trust’s initiative will be targeting over twenty thousand villages across the country.
Banda said she needed the support of the whole nation and the spirit of togetherness to make this initiative benefit everyone.
“Right now I have instructed my administration to start making consultations with people on how this initiative can bring best outcomes forour people”, said President, Dr Joyce Banda. – News Of The South
