Last year in February, I wrote about Themba Gorimbo on my timeline, not when he was trending, not when Zimbabweans were hyping him.
But when most people didn’t even know who he was. Fast forward to now, and Themba himself has said something powerful, he doesn’t belong to anyone. He said Zimbabweans never really supported him not even his own family. People only started celebrating him after he was celebrated in the USA, that didn’t surprise me.
If you look at my timeline, you will notice I mostly post people who are unknown people society doesn’t rush to celebrate or people who are long forgotten.. I have been doing this for a long time, intentionally, because the truth is uncomfortable
If people think you dont have money, you don’t have status, you don’t have a soft life on social media, they won’t support you.
But the moment you make it, suddenly it’s that’s our own, suddenly everyone believed in you, support should not come after foreign validation.
Celebration should not wait for money or fame.
Give people their flowers while they are still building, not when it’s already safe to clap.
