ENGLAND (News of The South) – Two children and two adults died in a boat carrying migrants from the coast of northern France on Tuesday.
Fifteen of the people were rescued and carried to the hospital but unfortunately two children aged 5 and 8 together with a man and woman belied to be from Iran did not make it.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “We have offered the French authorities every support as they investigate this terrible accident, and will do all we can to crack down on the ruthless criminal gangs who prey on vulnerable people by facilitating these dangerous journeys.”
The sinking boat was spotted by a sailboat around 09:30 on Tuesday, boat crew then alerted the authorities.
An investigation has been opened by the prosecution in Dunkirk to figure out what caused the sinking.
There have been complaints from the UK that France has not been doing enough to stop migrants from getting to the sea in the first place.
But the local says it is the British and not the French that is the magnet for migrants and nothing will be able to stop them.
A French MP once accused the British of not having any humanity for not allowing people to seek asylum there.
Charity Care4Calais said, “loss of life should be a wake-up call for those in power in France and UK.”
