Court stops Moyo from recalling Harare Mayor
by Correspondent
The High Court has thwarted the Minister of Local Government, July Moyo from recalling Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume.
The court also ruled the reinstatement of Bulawayo ward 4 Councillor Arnold Batirayi and Mutare Ward 12 Councillor Simon Chabuka.
Mafume who was in office for only a month was this week recalled by the PDP, a party he represented at the 2018 elections, on grounds that he was no longer serving the interests of the party he belonged to at the 2018 election.
PDP was being led by MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti when it joined the MDC Alliance but there seems to be another faction led by Mrs Lucia Matibenga and Secretary-General Benjamin Rukanda.
Biti, Mafume and other members rejoined MDC-T at the Gweru 2019 congress.
