The 20- year- old Banele is with Face Modelling and Casting Agency since December last year. He said he joined modelling because he wanted to be a role model to youngsters. “I don’t drink nor smoke as I want young people to look at me and emulate my behaviour.”
I joined modelling as I fell in love with it. I went to the auditions which were held last year at House on Fire and later signed a contract with them. I am still new in the industry. So I haven’t done any fashion shows yet.
Education
Banele is not only into modelling but he was also among the Top 3 in his class, AS class (Form 6) at Ka-Boyce which he completed last year.
“After getting my results later this month, I will apply at Witwatersrand (Wits) or the University of Cape Town (UCT),’’ he said.
The hunky model wants to study medicine and specialise later on.
His favourite model is Lunga Shabalala who is face of k Klein. “He inspires me and I look up to him. If I am not at school when Mr Swaziland is hosted I will join. He said people in Swaziland are not aware that there are quite a few agencies in the country, but it’s mostly concentrated on ladies. As you find most jobs in modelling are for females.
The industry is still developing. More still needs to be done to educate people about modelling, like workshops and have many more fashion shows.
