(News of The South) – As Africans we should love and be proud of our natural hair. In an interview with News of The South some women were asked if they knew where the 100% weaves and Brazillians weaves came from and their answers were shocking.

“I believe that these weaves are hand made from fibres and some are made from horse tails,” said a certain lady.
“They are manmade,” said another one.
After being shown evidence of where the hair they so gloriously love one lady started making faces of a disgusted person.

“I did not have an idea that they actually shaved hair from dead people and made weaves and sold it to us.
“It makes me regret ever liking the idea of putting on weaves rather than just staying with my natural hair,” she told News of The South.

The amount of money women are willing to pay for purchasing human hair is insane. Facts have proven that the market for human hair is increasing even though the human hair is pricy. If that money was put to other uses it would actually be good.

People are giving zero percent concern to where exactly the hair comes from, who it was from among other things.
We got to ask people if their wearing human hair that is not theirs is comfortable with them and also if it is any different from bleaching. The way they reacted proved that it is similar simply because when you bleach you would want to look like light skinned people and when you put on 100% hair from China, India or Brazil you would want to look like them.

Women should be proud of their African hair, kinky as it is. It is nice that way and surely some people out there wish they had the kind of hair that we have but we as Africans are failing to see the natural beauty that we possess.

The recent Miss World was South Africa’s very own Zozibini Tonzi. She had short and natural black hair which she was very proud of. A true African. This proves that you can still look good even without someone else’s hair on your head.

Dr Guramatunhu explained that when a person sweats with the weave on their heads the DNA of the person where the hair came from also gets into your body. In some cases you end up getting the disease and what so ever the previous owner of the hair you have on had. All that simply because you were not proud of your true African self.

Some other people who had their natural hair on were saying that they did not have those weaves not because they did not want them but because they are super expensive. They were saying that it is actually way better to have weaves than keep natural hair because weaves are easy to maintain.
