The Thomas Mapfumo shows scheduled for next week Friday and Saturday in Leeds and Dunstable have been cancelled.

Zimbabwean musician Mapfumo is furious since the dodgy promoter, Phill Wabatikwa, messed things up and did not tell the truth on his financial position.

His name is Wabatikwa- ‘You have been caught’ and he truly was caught after Mukanya received an email forwarded by mistake to him.

“He lied to us and interestingly he exposed himself in an email which he accidentally forwarded explaining he was struggling with finances,” The music legend revealed to ZimEye in an exclusive interview.

The promoter, Mr Phill Wabatikwa, who has let Mukanya down, finally spoke to ZimEye on Friday just as fans were complaining that he did not bother to publish the cancellation.

Admitting that he is broke and could not manage the commitment, he blamed the flop on financial constraints all caused by bad timing.

“We cancelled the show on Tuesday. This was all because of bad timing. We planned the show within a short space of time and because December is a difficult month it was not possible to make everything ready for Mukanya according to his standards,” he said.

He was quizzed on why he did not send emails to news houses following the cancellation which was done earlier in the week.
