Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – CHICKEN INN FOOTBAL CLUB developed cold feet in announcing their 2016 squad. The champions who had called a press conference in Harare on Wednesday to specifically announce the team for the new season cited some “headaches” and logistical issues in announcing the team to do duty in the New Year.

The Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas attributed the delay in announcing the squad to the deliberations that are taking place at the club. “We are trying to be careful in announcing the squad, we have a good thirty players and we have had headaches in coming up with the squad” he said.

He said the preparations were going on well except for the long preparation which has taken 12 weeks instead of the usual 6 weeks. “We have had to be careful so as not to burn out the players before the season even starts” said Antipas.

They also refused to name the players to be off loaded with the secretary general Tawengwa Hara saying they will look after the off loaded players until they get clubs to play for you as most of the 30 players they had registered for the African champion’s league were their contracted players with the exception of one player who was on loan.

“We have had challenges with paperwork for some players, so we don’t want to rush in announcing the squad, but most of the 30 players registered for CAF will form part of the team”.

On the ability to attract more fans to their matches Hara said they will continue playing good football and avoid counter attractions on match days. He said they cannot lower the gate charges as that involves a number of stakeholders.

“We will be comfortable with double headers at times as we now have many PSL teams in the league and it has worked well when we have television coverage” said Hara. Chicken Inn continue attracting low crowds despite their beautiful football at their home matches.

Rumour has it that defender Guide Goddard is one of the players to be off loaded alongside Ismael Lawe. The Champions recently brought into the team Obadiah Tarumbwa, Tennage Hadebe, Physwell Madhazi and Moses Demera ahead of their champion’s league clash with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
