Live on Zimlink in Nyagari Farm Village
ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN

Mudhari is a Travel Journalist by profession who considers herself a true African Ambassador currently working on Tourism projects, Grassroots developments, Investments, Twinning Cities and Cultural exchange programme between Africa and Europe. She is also the founder of Rainbow Projects.

She is engaged in projects that focused on changing and rebranding Africa. On this campaign her main focus is on grassroots development through building a health centre to save humanity.

“Poverty and poor health are not accidents. They are the result of political, social and economic decisions. We live in a world in which wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of a privileged few.The wealthy can use their influence to shape policies and practices that suit them, meanwhile others struggle”.

Being able to access good quality health care is an important aspect of health for all. Yet for many people this remains out of reach.

To compliment her work in Media and International Relations Mudhari advocates for Health Coverage to address and dismantle the cultural barriers that prevent people from accessing health services.

“So a few months ago I visited my rural area, Nyagari Farm Village in Zimbabwe to spend time with family, childhood friends and the locals. I was curious on how they have been surviving over the years in times of economic hardship and political unrest that the country is facing. So I conducted interviews with the villagers and their committee for Zimlink Magazine”.

“They told me their sad story about how much they have suffered in isolation with no access to basic health facilities and services since 1981 when they relocated to this remote area through a Government Resettlement Scheme”.

“Nyagari Farm Village serves as a business Centre to 6 other nearby villages with a population of around 3 000 families. There is a Primary School, a small church and an old store.”

The nearest clinic is 15-20km away and there is no transport service to reach the clinic except on foot. There is only one old chicken bus that passes through the area very early in the morning and late in the evening once in a blue moon.

The majority of villagers are elderly people and young grandchildren who struggle to walk this distance. Most patients can’t make it to this clinic and families have lost their loved ones. In most emergency cases the slowest mode of transport like a scotch cart have to be used to transport patients to this clinic and it’s often too late to serve their lives.

“I was told about the efforts the villagers have made to build a community health centre by applying to the local authority but were turned down because there was no funding for this particular project as the local council was focusing on another similar project in a more favourable area” explained Mudhari.

“I broke into tears and prayed but I realised that faith without action will not help so I joined hands with the villagers and gave them hope that there was a way out. And yes there is a way out as I managed to convince the authorities that I will do anything in my power to source funding for this project and save humanity by fund raising through campaigns, friends, contacts, business associates, organisations etc” she continued.

On September 22. 2015, the health centre proposal was officially accepted and permission was granted to build a Community Health Centre and proceed with necessary arrangements.

Permission was granted by the Deputy Minister of Public service, Labour and Social Welfare, Hon Tapiwa Matangaidze who listened to Mudhari’s story and accepting the proposal, and not forgetting Rev Chabata who supported Mudhari.

“It’s the best news I have ever heard in my life, I’m overwhelmed and I give glory to the God Almighty!” said an excited Mudhari.

“However I need support from everyone out there, Celebrities, Family & Friends, Former Classmates & Lecturers as well as those I met on face book, twitter, linkedin, instagram, and even those who don’t know me but believe in serving humanity. I’m also calling out to Charity Organisations, Health Organisations and many others to please join me and contribute to this campaign. This will not only serve lives but create employment for the locals.

“My target is to raise £50 000 – £100 000 to fund this project from scratch to the finishing point. This will go towards building material, construction, labour and medical equipment. I have also launched a football team, Nyagari Stars FC which will participate in fund raising tournaments to promote this project. I’m also planning a fund raising Christmas dinner to take place on the 5th of December in Scotland, please don’t miss it”.
