Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-The civil movement dubbed 21daysofactivism enters day 3 today with continued mass social media activity against the ruler-ship of President Mugabe with a particular focus on his holding a lavish birthday bash at a time of economic hardships.
Begun on the 1st of February, the movement has listed 21 grievances which it says President Mugabe needs to take care of before he can celebrate his turning 93 years old later on this month.
Mugabe turn s 93 on February 21 and will hold a celebratory bash in Matabeleland Province in another move that has sparked controversy as the designated site for the event is near a mass grave for people killed during Gukurahundi, a civil war that erupted in the 80’s.
According to the Herald , this year’s birthday bash organisers are aiming to raise at least 150 heads of cattle to feed about 100 000 guests.
A Zanu-PF lawmaker Never Khanye said that the donations were voluntary, but that large-scale farmers in Matabeleland South, where the celebrations would be held, must donate a cow each to show appreciation of the long-time leader.
This has not gone down well with the civil society who have produced a list of ills plaguing the county amongst which are Police Brutality, Corruption, Access to Health, Unemployment, Media Freedom and Expression and various other national deficiencies which are plaguing the Southern Africa country.
The movement received a new dosage of inspiration when Evan Mawarire of #ThisFlag was arrested on his arrival back into the country with its members and supporters calling for his release.
To maintain momentum and illustrate its points the movement is posting snippets of various ills troubling the country.
