Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-An Ebola vaccine has been recommended by a group of doctors and could bring an end to the scourge of the disease that ravaged parts of West Africa in 2013.
Some World Health Organisation experts said the vaccine looked promising though it is still an experimental drug that should be used with patient consent.
According to media reports WHO senior health advisor Alejandro Cravioto said the vaccine isn’t yet licensed.
“That means people have to sign saying that they want to take the vaccine and under the conditions that we call good clinical practices”
“We still have something that could really be of help in case we have something that could happen in near future”, he said.
A West Africa Ebola outbreak in 2013 killed 11, 300 people and of the 21 vaccines tested one tested in Guinea proved more effective.
According to WHO recommendations the ring strategy which has been used previously to curb small pox has been recommended also to deliver Ebola treatment.
