A viral audio is making rounds claiming to expose Kuda Tagwirei’s “secret plot” to take over Zimbabwe. Let’s be clear: this is not news. It is gossip, hearsay, and a deliberate attempt to sow confusion.
Listen to the recording itself. No one speaking was in the room with Tagwirei. It’s Apostle Batsirai Java repeating what his brother Passion allegedly heard from Tagwirei. A journalist then repeats it again. That’s hearsay piled on hearsay – a game of Chinese whispers, not evidence. In any court, in any sensible society, such a tale would be dismissed in seconds.
Tagwirei himself has never declared any ambition to be President of Zimbabwe. He is a businessman who has invested in fuel, agriculture, and industry when others walked away. To paint him as a shadowy kingmaker based on a church corridor conversation is both unfair and dangerous.
The real motive is obvious. The audio is crafted to set Tagwirei against the military, against the Presidency, and against ZANU PF itself. It is a classic strategy of division: create suspicion, spread fear, and watch the nation tear itself apart. Those behind it do not want truth. They want chaos.
Zimbabweans are wiser than this. We know the difference between verified facts and malicious whispers. If there is evidence of wrongdoing, take it to the courts. Don’t weaponize WhatsApp audios to conduct a trial by media.
Tagwirei deserves the same dignity and presumption of innocence as every citizen. Until then, this audio belongs where it belongs – in the dustbin of gossip.
Zimbabwe deserves truth, not theatrics. Zimbabwe deserves unity, not division. And Zimbabwe deserves leaders and citizens who judge others on facts, not on second-hand whispers.
