The Birmingham licensing committee in the United Kingdom this week heard of how Nakira Club on numerous occasions caused breaches to COVID-19 guidelines.
Presently, and due to COVID-19 breaches, two renowned nightclubs have gotten their licences suspended with another finding itself under investigation after about 200 people were reportedly seen leaving it.
Last week, Birmingham police found the Nakira Club, a local bar operating past the 22:00 BST curfew, with customers reportedly still inside at 00:40.
According to police reports, customers were also found inside La Reference (Petite Afrique) after curfew.
Police also tweeted seeing 200 people leave the Kasablanca Lounge on Wednesday.
In Small Heath and Highgate, police tweeted attending the Moseley Street premises following reports of an illegal rave.
Reports say more than 200 people were inside and no social distancing or evidence of track and trace was in place.
Information available also said police had visited La Reference, in Hockley Hill, several times and seen cars parked outside after 22:00hr.
At La Reference, 40 people were seen inside and no social distancing measures were being observed.
Designated premises supervisor, Rodrigue Kuoamo Tankeu, told officers he faced difficulties attempting to get people to leave since 21:45hr, but was unable to do so.
The Nakira nightclub, at Suffolk Street, Queensway, could now see its licence permanently revoked, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
Reports also say seventy people were found at a party at the club in August, again with no social distancing.
Philip Davis, chairman of a licensing sub committee on Birmingham City Council, alleges the committee had little choice but to suspend the club’s licence in the interim.
“All businesses have a responsibility – not only to their staff and customers – but to the wider community and there must be consequences when COVID-19 guidance is simply ignored,” he said.
“This is potentially a matter of life or death and Birmingham City Council will continue to work with West Midlands Police to enforce the guidelines.”
News of The South reached out to Zimbabwean businessman Dexter to establish what was going on at Nakiria and Dexter responded: ” Its a long story they are trying to suspend my licence. I will tell yiu the story another day”.
