Legal mind guides government

Lilongwe, Malawi. (News of the South) One of the country’s renowned lawyer, Ralph Kasambara has advised government to apply strong fiscical monetory measures that will press those who are keeping piles of money in their houses after stealing from the public coffers prior to the presidential election.
Writing on his Facebook account, Kasambara warned government against a possible bankruptcy that may affect the country in the near future if those who have looted money from government coffers are left to operate bedroom banks.

Since we now have the Minister of Finance, minister of Homeland Security and attorney general in office, can we start dealing with issues of economic justice?
1. For starters, we know that looters are keeping hoads of Kwachas in their homes and farms. We need to change the K2,000 bank note ASAP. The banks should only be allowed 30 days within which customers should come to deposit that note. Thereafter it becomes useless. In so doing so many looters will have useless papers in their homes.
2. Secondly, there is need for lifestyle audit of all parastatal and senior govt officers (including presidential aides) and former ministers.
3. Thirdly Malawi Police Service, MRA, MACRA, NOCMA, MHC etc ought to be audited ASAP.
4. Awowo who have become overnight billionaires must go through tax audit.
5. Finally, can we start vetting senior employees to see if they have requisite qualifications for the post they got in the last 6 years. Also vet if their engagement went through due process. If not they ought to go in the same manner they came in. Garbage in Garbage out.
