By Karen Mhlanga.

(News of The South) – The first sources that told me about the COVID -19 said it was a foreign disease that did not affect black people. There was so much misinformation I did not know what was true and what was not.

All of that misinformation got cleared up when it started tearing it’s way into my world a couple of hundred people a day.

It all got a lot clearer when it got into my country Zimbabwe and started by taking a person a day. What spreads fear about my country is I do not know if it’s a case of very little COVID-19 cases or if it’s a case of our authorities not being able to detect them.

Now we are on a 21 day lockdown with chances of an extension. This means that schools and workplaces are closed up. The other thing that worries me the most is every student has already paid their educational fees and if this continues it means they are going to have to start all over and pay again, unless of course all students are given back the money for the remaining duration of the term.

This Coronavirus has slowed down progress for the whole country as a student on attachment my biggest worry is having to repeat it again because of this.

The whole country is suffering because they do not have enough money to keep their families fed during this lockdown because they all survive from hand to mouth.

My view is that for all of this to blow over quickly everyone is supposed to self quarantine and follow all the health orders instructed to them.
