Maputo, Mozambique. – (News of The South) – Efacec Power Solutions, a Portuguese power company has been contracted to build the Metoro photovoltaic solar power plant.

The solar power plant which has a power capacity of 41 MWp will be built on a plot of land covering approximately 138 hectares.
“This will be the largest installed capacity solar power plant in Mozambique to date, making it a flagship project for Efacec,” said Efacec Power Solutions in a statement.

Efacec is expected to finish construction of the solar power plant by the end of 2020, after 11 months of work.

Electricidade de Moçambique, the country’s state owned power utility will distribute the electricity to 175 000 Mozambican households.
Mozambique is on a mission of diversifying its electricity mix and decentralising energy production, with the aim of giving 100 percent of its population access to electricity by 2030.
