(News Of The South) – As tough economic times hit harder and harder, as more and more unexplained illnesses ravage the glorious earth many people are turning to divine intervention for solutions – they’re turning to prophets for solutions. Although I undoubtedly believe that there are still some genuine prophets who are being used by Christ or whatever the source of that supernatural power to help the needy and perform result oriented miracles – It is also fair to say that there is also a good number of rotten, another day another dollar –fake prophets mushrooming all over the this magnificent world of ours.
The aim of these another day another dollar – fake prophets is to make as much money as they could on each day of the calendar by conning congregants or the vulnerable people. They pretend to possess the gift of prophecy – they can even be taught to fake prophecy.
The crux of the matter is how to detect these, another day another dollar- fake prophets. It’s not usually easy to discover them when you’re in problems which need divine intervention. However the following are the tell-tale signs of fake prophets.
They charge exorbitant amounts for exorcisms and healing of clients. Usually they dictate specific forms of payment for exorcising demons and casting out spells. To villagers they often charge a beast to perform those rituals and to urban dwellers they might want payment in form of material things such as a car or a house. False prophets are good at impressing and manipulating their clients or congregants.
They preach more about material things than the spiritual well-being and eternal life. They will promise you that if you join their church you will get everything you wish for in life. They interpret the bible in the manner that suits their ego. They make it as a rule that every member of their church must pay a certain amount of money to the church on a monthly basis. The vulnerable will be told that the more they give the more they would get – blessed is the hand that gives. Some are even told to buy the man of cloth and prophetess grocery, car or even a house so that the prophet can perform his miracles with robustness. You are not part of the prophet or prophetess if you are not up to date with your tithes.
The fake prophet usually labels children and old women as witches. The criterion is to choose the weakest link to apportion blame. This is typical abuse of children and women in the name of prophecy. The old women and children are even forced to drink concoctions which the fake prophet knows would play in his favour by making the children and the old women hallucinate or feel dizzy. If this happens it would be interpreted as a sign of them being witches.
People should be weary of these so called another day another dollar – fake prophets. They are there to cause mayhem among family members by witch hunting and charging exaggerated amounts – these prophets are there to line their pockets and get rich quickly whilst leaving a trail of animosities among congregants and family members by accusing them of practicing witchcraft. Tactful Judgment is needed when engaging the services of a prophet – a good number of them are the “another day another dollar type” – they want money daily by fraudulent means.
