The 17-year-old Nigerian central midfielder Chidi Nwakali is set to hold negotiations with Manchester City over a possible move to the Etihad this January, News of the South can reveal.
Nwakali was instrumental in Nigeria’s team which won the World Cup last year in November and he is anticipated to be in Manchester to hold talks with City officials.
The midfielder will get £300,000 per year in wages from the day he turns 18 on 26 December if the deal materialises. The player currently plays for Shuttle Sports Academy in Lagos.
However, the deal comes after the failure of yet another move for a 17-year-old striker Kelechi Iheanacho who had signed a verbal agreement with Porto but to no avail.
Iheanacho finished Under-17 World Cup victory as the top goal scorer with half a dozen goals.
