(News of The South) – Legendary Indonesia goalminder, Choirul Huda died after collapsing to the ground following a collision with his team mate towards the end of first half in his teams’ meeting with Semen Pedang.

Persela Lamongan are in grief at the loss of club stalwart following confirmation that Huda lost his life tragically in a match against Padang.

The 38-year-old suddenly fell down during the dying stages of first half following a coming together with team-mate Ramon Rodrigues and Pedang attacker Marcelo Sacramento.He became subconscious in side his penalty area after attempting to block a through ball.

Doctors rushed to treat him and they quickly took him away from the field of play to a local medical centre.

Persela gaffer Aji Santoso confirmed on twitter that Huda sadly lost his life in a tragic manner.

“All of the players finished the game and went to the hospital, where it was announced that Choirul Huda had died.

“The loss of Choirul Huda has hit us all hard.We did not have time to see a doctor, only to see his body.”

The post mortem was done and it was later confirmed that the player had died as a result of head and neck trauma.

“He died because of a collision in the head and behind the neck,” said Dr Zaki Mubarok of Dr Soegiri Lamongan General Hospital.

The legendary keeper made his debut in 1999 and was a regular through out his entire career with Persela.
