Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Tobaiwa Mudede, the Zimbabwe Registrar General has dismissed any association between the RG’s Office and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) insinuating that they are agencies of enemy states bent on controlling the country.
Speaking in Harare Mudede defiantly eulogised about the ability of the RG’s office and the exploits it has managed without any external assistance which he declared he wont accept.
“We will not work with NGO’s and we will not accept any assistance from NGO’s”.
“Sometime back we were given cars but i declined them because you can’t be happy about something you have not worked for and no one will offer you assistance without later coming to shake you”
“No country has ever risen through donor funding”
“I am not afraid or shy about it because I feel we have succeeded in what we are doing. The African Union (AU) is satisfied with our work, the standard is too high and we do not fear”, he said.
Mudede stated that they have managed to deal with the issue of marriages of convenience by using Biometric systems in ID’s and marriages certificates to an extent that Western countries have copied the template they use in dealing with the problem.
“The AU guidebook on Biometric systems was created based on what we had done here”
“US and UK all copied our system in dealing with marriages of convenience but they have paid no recognition to us”
“Our passport that we produce is actually World Compliant and is the best in the whole of Africa if not in the rest of Europe as well”, he said.
The RG deplored the state of the country concerning among other issues the noise over Biometric voting system and said western input was part of the problem.
“Animals in the bush are more organised than you human beings. They have managed to survive for years when they are so many dangers”
“We have failed to be organised ourselves that’s why we are being infiltrated. We have been penetrated because we have lost our culture”, he charged.
Biometric is a system of identification and the RG’s office has reportedly been using it in a variety of forms since 2004.
