Kelvin Kaindu who is now the head coach of the gold miners Howmine fc deputised by his right hand man Bekithemba “Super”Ndlovu another former Highlanders and Warriors defence stalwart, made the remarks at Mandava Stadium on Saturday the 10th of sept 2016 after falling down to the Platinum miners FC Platinum by a solitary goal.
The Zambian,Kelvin Kaindu who assembled quite a good squad with young and veterans has found the going tough. They are not all that consistent, they have got up and downs no wonder why they remain rooted in the middle of the log standing.
Meanwhile, the FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza concured with Kaindu’s sentiments though in a diplomatic manner saying he is happy that they are collecting maximum points at home and he believes they will maintain the rhythm up to the end.Norman has got the needed arsenal to take them to the promised land,to be crowned the Champions at the end of the season.Mapeza has got quality and individual talented players in his books to fight for the prestigious cup,the likes of Winston Mhango,Gift Bello, the Moyo twins Kelvin and Elvis,Tatenda Dzumbunu,Walter Musona,Brian Muzondiwa,Nqobizitha Masuku,Rodwell Chinyengetere,Petros Mhari,Charles Sibanda just to mention a few.
FC Platinum are leading the log standing with 47 points,a point ahead of Caps United who are sitting on 46 points.
In third position with 41 points are Highlanders who appears to be still in the race following their hard fought sweet victory over their archrivals Dynamos fc.On the fourth position is ZPC Kariba on 36 points. The Harare giants Dynamos fc who seem to be out of the race lie in the 5th position with 35 points 12 points behind the log leaders FC Platinum.
Archoring the log is the Beitbrige based side Border Strikers who has hired the self proclaimed “Doctor of football”Luke “Vahombe”Masomere replacing Shadreck Malunga who who took over from Saul Chaminuka.Malunga was relieved off his duties and reassigned within the team structures.Masomere is expected at least to save the team from the chop to the inferior league at the end of the season. Also in the relegation zone is Tsholotsho fc with 19 points.Mutare city Rovers moved away from the relegation zone with 21 points after winning their away tie at Gibbo stadium against Triangle fc.
FC Platinum face a stern challenge from another title contender Caps United,Caps with quite a number of seasoned and quality players pose a major threat to FC.Chitembwe has got extremely a good squad,he has got the bold shout for the title.
The players who can land the title to the green machine include the veteran striker who had seen it all Leonard Tsipa,Joel Ngodzo,Hardlife Zvirekwi,Moses Muchenje,Tafadzwa Rusike,Stephen Makatuka,Dominic Chungwa,Simba Nhivi just to mention a few.He has got all the depth in his squad.Caps United kept their title hopes after beating out of sorts reigning champions Chicken inn at the giant National sports stadium on Sunday the 11/9 by a solitary strike from a spot kick by Leonard Tsipa.
Lloyd Chitembwe was clear on the championship race saying they hope to clinch the title and their ambitions remains the same, considering the way they are getting the results. They have good chances like any other team vying for the title.Chitembwe’s worry is the rate on how his players get injuries in each game towards such crucial stages of league.
Meanwhile, the PSL teams shift focus to the most expensive cup,the Chibuku super cup.The first round will resume on the 16th,17th and the 18th of sept 2016 with matches rolled all over the country.
