JOHANNESBURG, South Africa. (News Of The South) – SUSPECTED Zimbabwean bank robber has been arrested by the South African elite police, the Hawks.

The Hawks and Crime Intelligence officers arrested the suspect, Lucky Vusi Dube at his house in Johannesburg. They initially arrested a man for robbery who led them to Dube’s place. Dube who is known as ‘Sthakathi’ is suspected to be the mastermind of 2014 robberies of Standard Bank in Balfour, Mpumalanga, Bidvest Bank in Randburg, ABSA Bank in Sandton, Absa Bank in Vereeniging, Nedbank in Johannesburg Central and ABSA Bank in Norkempark, Johannesburg. Dube was found in possession of fourteen (14) live ammunition of a handgun. Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said, “The suspect appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (yesterday), facing charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition. His case was postponed to May 6, 2016 pending the verification of his address and status in the country as well as centralization of all his alleged cases. ”

Dube, whom the Hawks called the most wanted bank robber in South Africa, is also linked to the Nedbank robbery in Sandton in 2006 and 2013 robbery in Vereeniging.



Some Zimbabweans have been involved in serious crimes in South Africa. Zimbabweans Bongani Moyo was slapped with a 62 year jail last year while his co-accused Khumbulani Sibanda was jailed for 55 years for racketeering, bank robbery and escaping from sustody.
