Harare. (News Of The South) -THE Zimbabwe National Rugby Team is leaving no stone unturned in the buildup to the 2019 Rugby World Cup qualifiers to be hosted by Japan.

Brighton Chivandire, the Sables team manager, made the statement during a press statement held at a hotel in Harare recently to announce the new sponsors for the game against Tunisia.

“We are not leaving any stone unturned…we will do our best to defend our country’s sovereignty on the rugby pitch,” he said.

His words were echoed by the Sables coach, Cyprian Madenge, who said they were taking every game seriously and were in a winning spirit each time they faced an opponent.

“Every game to us is very important, especially considering the fact that we are now looking at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. However, we need to work on our finishing,” he said.

Tunisian coach, Sarhaoui Mohamed, who was flanked by the team captain Khaled Zegden, commended Zimbabweans for their hospitality and said he hoped that the Zimbabwe Rugby Team would fare well in future on the field of play.

“We would like to thank the Zimbabwe Rugby Union for hospitality. This is not our first time to come and play in Zimbabwe and each time we are always welcomed warmly. We have a good relationship with Zimbabwe in terms of rugby and we hope that Zimbabwe will have a good future the Sevens and in rugby,” he said.

Meanwhile, CBZ Holdings, who sponsored the Sables with a kit worth US$10 000 for their game against Tunisia, expressed, through their head of marketing and corporate affairs, Dr Eldret Shereni, their desire to have a lasting working relationship with the Zimbabwe Rugby Union.

“This sponsorship is part of our corporate social responsibility. We saw an opportunity to sponsor this game that has been growing and evolving over the years and has produced some players some of whom have been exported,” she said.

Apart from CBZ, some of the sponsors include Delta Beverages, who through their Shumba Maheu brand, sponsored the man of the match prize to the tune of US$500 during the Zimbabwe-Tunisia game; Dairiboard, Zesa, Old Hararians and Prince Edward school.
