In 2009 the Hope Of Life Foundation institution was formed by Vimbai Zinyemba who saw it wise to upgrade the lives of rural boys and girls and also the disadvantaged in Mutoko.
The organization aims to actively help children. A local initiative has brought together men and women who share the vision of a better future for the children especially those in the rural areas. It is an excellent example of the power of ordinary people who are bound by a vision and determination by a vision and a determination to achieve a dream.
Many boys and girls of the school going age are not going to school because of many reasons including the unavailability of school fees among others. HOLF then decided to visit the area so that they could help those who are in need and to promote human rights with a specific focus on women and children’s rights pertaining to social, education and economic empowerment.
HOLF started their donation at Hurumutumbu Primary School in Mutoko South district where hundreds of exercise books, covers and chairs were donated first to this primary school because there had little stationery. Students at Hurumutumbu school are currently sitting on clay moulded bricks while attending their lessons as well as their teachers. This situation makes it difficult for students to concentrate while sitting on rough bricks for more than an hour. The floor, roof and the toilets are in very bad condition and not conducive for learning purposes.
Abandoned houses were turned into class rooms and teachers will have to use those classrooms as houses to stay in because of lack of accommodation.
Teachers are now rejecting this school preferring to go to other schools where there are good resources like electricity, water and even proper houses.
In trying to help this school, HOLFmanaged to donate 126 chairs for the students and teachers and is currently paying school fees for 21 orphans at Hurumutumbu Schoo.
Up to11 more schools in ward 29 have a scarcity of resources mainly stationery and infrastructure. Some boys and girls are not going to school in other areas.
The performance of the kids in this area is very low due to the unavailability of learning equipment.
Many students are computer illiterate some do not even how the computer looks like in this modern world.
Again the development of the rural communities in Mutoko area is on a slow pace due to the unavailability of projects which can empower women and the youth. It’s very difficult to do such projects because of unavailability of water. Agricultural projects are difficult to start and the villagers are asking for even boreholes so that the can get even drinking water.
The aged in this area do not have any one to cater for them since their children have perished due to the A.I.D.S pandemic thereby leaving kids who are not yet able to take care for them selves. The aged need food, and are not enjoying good health.
Vimbai Zinyemba, on behalf of Hope of Life Foundation is seeking for help either in form of money, building material to repair the schools and stationery to upgrade the life of rural kids in the area. Those who wish to help contact the director of Hope of Life Foundation Vimbai Zinyemba on:
