Zimbabwe, Chiredzi. (News Of The South) – Riot Police had to quill flaring temperatures in Chiredzi as vicious War veterans on Wednesday disrupted Chiredzi and Mwenezi District from undertaking smooth accreditation process ahead of the party’s elective congress.
The developments which come as a testimony of the fractures which are currently prevailing in all organs of the revolutionary party saw former freedom fighters believed to be aligned to the Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa faction employing some of their revolutionary skills to cause commotion at Chitsanga Hall.
In an interview with journalist Chiredzi District War Veterans Association Secretary General Killiot Mukanya said war veterans were reacting to the continued involvement of ouster Masvingo Provincial Chairman Retired Brigadier Calisto Gwanetsa in party business.
Mukanya said they had to disrupt an accreditation process of party members from Mwenezi District which was being carried out at an “unholy place’’ which is the Hippo Valley Country Club.
”We cannot watch undeserving candidates being accreditated to attend a very important gathering. We discovered that Gwanetsa and his followers changed the venue were party members from Mwenezi were to be accredited. They had our members at Hipoo Valley Country Club, we can’t have our people being associated with Tongaat Hullets, the place is unholy for us to undertake party business,” said Mukanya.
Mukanya said party members were supposed to be accredited at Chitsanga Hall hence the unwarranted venue change raise eyebrows.
He however said war veterans will sent their list of deserving party members to the party headquarters for them to be accredited.
“We are sending our own list of deserving members to the party HQ and those would be official people accredited to represent Chiredzi and Mwenezi District. Let them continue with the mock accreditation but true members of the party would be seen in Harare,” ranted Mukanya.
The team undertaking the accreditation process is headed by Masvingo Provincial Secretary of Administration only identified as Cde Madondo.
