Zimbabwe`s Lady Squanda was in top form Sunday night, delivering a top-notch show which had been organised by The Rollers Family Club as a thank you to their patrons for their support over the 2013 UK Summer/BBQ season which was dubbed The Rollers Family Club BBQ 2013 Grand Finale.
Rollers Boss Davison Chimenya said: “The Rollers team put a plan in action and executed it successfully. A lot of people were pleasantly surprised because it was organised in the strictest confidence and more as a big thank you to all those fantastic patrons who have attended Rollers Family Club 2013 events as well as all the partners and staff who made the 2013 season a success. For us, Lady Squanda was a natural choice to close Rollers for the season based on her previous performance here earlier in the year. On behalf of the Rollers Family I just want to say a big thank you/ siyabonga kakhulu/tinotenda zvikurusa and watch out for The Rollers Family Club BBQ 2014”.
Lady Squanda took to the stage wearing casual celebrity jogging bottoms with a red vest accessorized by Lookfab4less Boutique. Miss Matilda Bvumbe the brains behind lookfab4lessboutique.co.uk said:
“In putting together this ensemble I drew inspiration from outfits worn by leading international celebrities and I was also mindful of the personality of Lady Squanda”. The outfit was a truly inspired choice indeed as it did not restrict the artist in any way whatsoever”.

Squanda opened the show whilst walking to the stage with a heart-warming rendition of her track “Squandafire Ndini”.
This is the first solo UK tour for Lady Squanda and it just keeps getting better. Over the years Lady Squanda has honed her skills, wowing the audience with deft vocal humour and singing skills on songs like “Vimba Neni”. Squanda looked utterly self-assured as she belted out the love song.
Squanda continued hour long set with “Maporofita efake” a fan favourite she delivers with mountains of swagger and high energy. She immediately connected with her fans, introducing them to each next track with humour filled one-liners, and each introduction brought a show-stopping solo that left the audience truly wowed even happily inviting dancers from the audience to join her on stage.
The show was fast-paced and included classics “Cracker,” “Sadza Rangu,” and the safe sex promoting “Punani”. Collaborations were not left off the bill as everyone sang along to “Vimba Neni” and “Dancehall Doctor.” A new single, “Ndinovhaira,” turned out to be the hit of the night due its catchy hook and otherwise powerful crystal-clear vocals that had the crowd vociferously singing along, almost drowning out Squanda’s own vocals in one fell swoop. Squanda sent the crowd crazy with her new hit.
Performing at The Rollers Family Club BBQ 2013 Grand Finale was a thrill for Lady Squanda, who could easily double as a witty stand comedienne.
Squanda joked that she “wanted her sadza so she could be as big as Rollers Family Club Boss Davison Chimenya” which had the crowd in stitches at the audacity of the pun.
Squanda is loved by her fans, interacting with them throughout and after the show. Dozens turned up to witness the performance. Many were rewarded for their dedication: Liah, who was serenaded for her birthday with Lady Squanda leading the crowd through a shona rendition of “Happy Birthday to you”; afterwards graciously posing for photos and chatting and joking with fans of all ages.
Squanda finally brought things to a close just before midnight with the euphoric, Freeman E Dangerzone song “Dancehall Doctor” with fans filling in for Freeman showing the power of song as she sang to the rafters leaving most fans satisfied, if not a little tired.
At this time in history when Auto-Tune and ProTools pollute music like a plague, it is easy to forget how powerful the human voice is. It is nice that Lady Squanda naturally entertainingly reminded the audience of it.
