Harare, Zimbabwe. (News Of The South) – ZIMBABWE’S versatile inter-denominational gospel music choir, Zimpraise have featured prominent South African gospel musicians Sipho Makhabane and Jabu Hlongwane on their latest DVD titled “Ebenezer”.
The inclusion of the two high-octane singers further enhances the appeal of the DVD since both Makhabane and Hlongwane are household names in their own right, with a number of popular songs and albums to their names.
“The Big Fish” as Makhabane is called, is not new to Zimbabwe and other countries in the region with his hits like “Ngiyamemeza, “Jesus for Africa, “Ebenezer” and “Hamba Nami” being popular among fans.
Hlongwane, of Joyous Celebration, on the other hand, is better known for his songs like “Wonderful God,” “Iyeza,” and “Vuma Moya Wami”.
In describing the DVD, Zimpraise’s Head of Public Relations, Tendai Zhou said they were thrilled to release the project which features special appearances by the two South African music gurus, adding that this would add flavor and diversity to the DVD.
“Our Season 9 DVD titled ‘The Pentecost’ was recorded live at the Harare Gardens during the Zimpraise International Gospel and Music Festival last year in October.
“This year our DVD has over 25 songs that have been arranged by our music director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Joseph Madziyire. The songs come in 2 DVD sets which are broken down into Part A and Part B. The DVD also has a special session where Zimpraise performed with renowned South African artists Jabu Hlongwane of Joyous Celebration and Sipho Makhabane as well,” Zhou said.
She said the group could not have been where it is today had it not been for the support that they get fellow artistes, their various church denominations as well as the inspiration and strength from God.
Zhou was speaking as Zimpraise will also be marking their 10th anniversary as part of the DVD launch.
The Sungano hit-makers have a number of awards to their name, apart from being nominated for the Best Gospel Artist in Africa Award of the African Entertainment Awards – USA in October last year.
Zimpraise – who previously have won awards such as the Permican Gospel Music Awards – was nominated alongside co-founder of Celebration Ministries International Bonnie Deuschle as well as Next Level, Sonnie Badu and Abel Chungu Musuka of Joyous Celebration.
In 2013, Zimpraise toured the United Kingdom and the United States, while 2014 saw them making a return to the United States before storming Canada.
