Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-A riot is ongoing at Seke Teacher’s College as student teachers have ganged up against the institution’s administration which is threatening to defer those who are yet to pay more than $2000 in fees arrears.
The Seke admin issued an order recently that all students with arrears should pay amounts reaching $2000 within the next two weeks or risk being deferred.
The arrears were accumulated during the “5 term TP period due to lack of resources as well as other resources”, said one journalist who was an eyewitness to the happenings.
Images from the institution have a number of police riot squad members milling around the campus as they try to disperse the angry students.
The harsh economic state of the country has resulted in many failing to pay their fees and fulfil other financial obligations.
