Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa today paid a courtesy visit to the former Prime Minister and MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai visit at his Highlands home in Harare.
Upon arrival, President Mnangagwa was welcomed by MDC-T Vice President Mr Nelson Chamisa, their party’s director of elections Mr Murisi Zvizvayi and Mr Tsvangirai’s wife, Mrs Elizabeth Tsvangirai.
President Mnangagwa was accompanied by Vice President Retired General Constantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga. Such a visit was received with joy by the majority of Zimbabweans political leaders and supporters across the country who expressed their joy on what the current President is doing by showing love and caring to the opposition than fanning hate politics.
MDC-T President said that he is fine and recuperating very well and said that, he will soon go back for further medical check-ups in South Africa.
Asked on the possibility of forming a Government of National Unity (GNU), the President was quick to brush aside the idea saying there was no need for that.
“What’s the cause (to form a GNU)?” he said. “You are allowed to lobby, it’s a democratic country. People are allowed to lobby for anything. Currently, there is no need (to form a GNU),” he said.
Meanwhile MDC-T deputy president, Mr Nelson Chamisa welcomed President Mnangagwa’s visit.
“It’s a welcome thing, it’s African to care for one another, it’s very Zimbabwean. This is the new politics we want to see, the politics of peace, the politics of working together, the politics of feeling for one another. This is the direction and we hope it is the kind of talk that will be walked and talk that will be sustained. Going forward we want to see a peaceful election in Zimbabwe and we are very appreciative. Mr Chamisa said.
Emmerson Mnangagwa visit to Morgan Tsvangirayi is a sign of mature politics and this will teach a lesson to those people who always fight each other because of political differences and ideologies.
Politics is about winning hearts and minds . Those that are winnable will have no choice but to embrace this new political dispensation. President Mnangagwa can’t win for some of his critics. They want him to remain brutal for political expediency. People do reform and the the Zanu PF party is following the route. The country needs such kind of leadership and tge President has impressed very well. Zimbabwe is for all regardless of our political differences.
Zimbabwe doesn’t need one political party party to solve the prevailing current political amd economic crisis, even in the future. It needs all stakeholders. Zanu PF should swallow their pride and must know that , all heads are vital for the development of our nation today and beyond.
